Privacy Policy

The Daily Case Files (“we”, “us”) is a free daily deduction-puzzle game operated by EliteSpec, New Zealand. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it short because we collect very little.

What we collect

• Account details — if you create an account, your email address and a password. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash; we never store or see it in plain text.
• Gameplay data — your puzzle progress, streaks, and which cases you have solved, so we can save and sync them.
• Anonymous analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It reports aggregate traffic (page views, country, referrer) and does not build a profile of you or track you across other sites.

You can play the game fully without an account. If you don’t sign up, we hold no personal information about you beyond the anonymous analytics above.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser’s local storage to save your puzzle progress on your device, and — if you sign in — a login token so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How we use your data

Only to run your account and save, sync, and display your progress and streaks. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.

Who processes it

Your account data is stored on our own server. Anonymous traffic analytics are processed by Cloudflare, Inc. as our infrastructure provider.

Data retention and your rights

We keep your account data while your account exists. Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. Email us and we’ll action it.

Children

The Daily Case Files is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date above shows the latest revision.
